Rihanna X River Island

Rhianna showcased her design collaboration with River Island at LFW last week. Although the artist is known for her recognisable sense of style, the collection has been heavily slated by press. Although some people may complain that the collection is not wearable for the general public, there’s is no doubt the Rihanna’s unique style comes out in the collection. The racy collection of bright colours and sexy pieces is defiantly perfect for the fans and style admirers.

The Melissa Diamantidi Spring/Summer13 collection took place in the main catwalk of Freemasons hall at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout venue in Covent Garden’s.

The line started off with models look innocent and pure white dresses with a hint of sexiness with the used of cut out sections in the dresses. Cut of section was an ongoing theme as the collection went on and the main fabric trends were again chiffons and silks. The contemporary use of pattern cutting to add a complex approach to simple pieces, that is what made the collection so outstanding. As the show went on, colours of emerald green and sleek black were incorporated into the designs.

The models walked up then stopped midway on the way down from the catwalk and then turn and stopped at one side of the audience. This created a tense atmosphere and the crowd were able to admire the designs close up. The show ended with a final stand of the models lined up on the catwalk and the applause continued as the lights dimmed down. A high standard has definitely been set for Melissa Diamantidi future shows.

The collection consisted of monochrome colours in elegant shapes. Although the Hana kept the colour shades simple the chosen fabrics and cuts did not disappoint. The mostly white fabric of chiffon, silks and knitted jumper were dip dyed blacked which created a beautiful effects, especially with the long flowing chiffon pieces. The show stopper was the final floor length black dress with heavy white fringe draped down the gown. The gown looked sensational as the model floated down the catwalk.
